The iSchool at Illinois
The School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois has long been recognized as one of the best library and information science programs in the world. The iSchool earned this reputation through a tradition of innovation and excellence, including:
- the oldest extant LIS doctoral program in the country (1948);
- an award-winning online education program, known as Leep (1996);
- a School Librarian Licensure program (2001);
- an advanced degree in digital libraries (2005);
- a master of science in bioinformatics (2007);
- leading publications (The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books, Library Trends); and
- cutting-edge research centers (the Center for Children's Books and the Center for Informatics Research in Science and Scholarship).
Programs
Students may pursue comprehensive educational offerings, including a Bachelor of Science degree in information sciences, Master of Science degrees in library and information science and information management, the PhD, and Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS).
