Cody Eskew is a Visiting Senior Scientific Specialist, Coastal Studies with ISTC, detailed at the Illinois Coastal Management Program (CMP) located in Chicago, IL. He provides project management support for CMP objectives on coastal hazards, community resilience, coastal habitats, sustainable economic development, and coastal recreation. His current interests lie in bringing innovative coastal management solutions to the unique environments of the Great Lakes, monitoring coastal change for research-based management, and translating scientific information for stakeholder use.

Prior to joining ISTC, Cody was a National Oceanic and Atmospheric (NOAA) Coastal Management Fellow with the Illinois CMP. He helped coordinate the Sand Management Working Group (SMWG), an informal network of local, state, and federal leaders and land managers working to address shoreline change and management on public lands along Illinois’ Lake Michigan coast. His major accomplishments with the SMWG included supporting the group’s beneficial use of dredge material efforts, demystifying the shoreline permitting process, and linking FEMA pre-disaster mitigation resources to stakeholders.
