Biography

After receiving a B.S. on studying the biology and morphology of a Lepidoptera moth pest on asparagus from the University Agrarian La Molina, Lagos-Kutz moved to Champaign, Illinois in 2001 to work as intern at the Illinois Natural History Survey under the supervision of John Shaw and Dr. David Voegtlin. Lagos-Kutz became Voegtlin’s entomology graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign studying the systematics of the genus Aphis (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in the USA Midwest. After receiving her Ph.D. in 2013, Lagos-Kutz worked as a postdoc at the USDA unit in Urbana, Illinois under the supervision of USDA emeritus, Dr. Glen Hartman.
