Biography

Dr. Sarah Baires received her PhD in anthropological archaeology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2014.  Her research interests include understanding the reasons why humans built and populated urban environments by focusing particularly on the ways people inhabiting the periphery of early cities became integrated into the social, cultural, and economic milieu.  Dr. Baires works on these questions at the Native American city of Cahokia--North America's largest pre-European contact urban landscape north of Mexico.
