Professional Certifications

California Licensed Professional Geologist License Number: 9672

Earned PhD and MA from The Johns Hopkins University, BA from Oberlin College. Has extensive experience researching geological fracturing impacts on fluid flow in positions held in the federal government and in the private sector. Working in technology development for microseismic monitoring, co-authored a patented method for creating discrete fracture network models using microseismic event data. Has held adjunct positions at the University of Houston, California State University Los Angeles and Northridge, and a full time faculty position at Whittier College. Served on the NAS Committee on Seismology and Geodynamics from 2015 - 2019. Provides lectures at colleges and universities as a participant in the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Visiting Geoscientist Program since 2014, and teaches industry-related short courses on fracture analysis and modeling and induced seismicity interpretation.
