Dr. Palomares is a Senior Scientific Specialist in Archaeological Collections with the Illinois State Archaeological Survey. She is currently the coordinator of the OVCRI-University Collections Project, focusing on completing physical and digital inventory, rehabilitation, and reorganization of archaeological collections held within the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign collections pertinent to compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). Her specializations outside of curation include a large experience working in Mesoamerican archaeology and analysis of ceramics using the portable X-ray fluorescence technique.
